The registered American Paint Horses that are raised here are shown in both Halter and performance, used both in the show ring and on the ranch
I have raised and shown paint horses for close to 40 years.
I have raised and shown American Paint Horses for close to 40 years.I have had horses in the top 10 in the World in Halter, Pleasure, Trail, English, Barrels, Poles, Stakes Race, with many of these multiple times. My horses have been shown and ridden successfully by youth and amateurs, because of their great dispositions.
I have spent time crossing bloodlines of Freeway Foxy, Norfleet, Mr Gunsmoke, Doc Bar, Dell Jiggs. Then I added to these lines Mighty Awesome, Coosa, Intiminators Model, Proof Set, and the great Barlink Macho Man. This has a great mix of both Tobiano, Overo, and Tovero color to add to the complete package.
I have to laugh when some one says" oh you raise Halter horses... and you live on a ranch"? Why don't you have halter horses or riders, why are you TRYING to do both? I do have riders. I ride my halter horses.
I believe the attributes that make a champion halter horse, likewise produces a highly capable performance horse. Conformation is needed for halter as well as performance. Disposition follows along with the whole picture. This combination will win in the show ring. Many a time, I have stood up with the top halter people in the World and then had my horses ride into the show pen and stand up in the top in there, also.
I have heard so may people that think they must have a horse for every event. In this day and age why not have one horse that will do it all.
Every year for many years I have had my horses in the top year end award standing in Idaho and for the last 3 years we have also had them in the top in Nevada. Many of theses horses are then used on the ranch and sold as performance horses. They are "pretty horses that ride".
High Desert Ranch is located in Oregon. We are 70 miles from Burns, Oregon or 140 from Boise, Idaho.
